Character: Merlin
Time: 40 moons ago, (late February/early March) (Merlin is ~70 moons old, Nivian is ~30)
Outline of Thread: Merlin is a bit of a nerd and loves mythology, including the Arthurian Legends, where he picked his own name from. Upon meeting Nivian for the first time, he determines it it fate. (Nivian is one of the many names given to the Lady of the Lake) There are no set events for their courting but keep in mind that before the year is out they have a litter (10 moons), so they should become mates in the span of 2 to 8 moons. For Nivian's personality, see below, but know she won't be harsh or spiteful to Merlin's advances, but she might find them amusing at first.
This will probably be a multi-part thread with different scenes from their courtship, and while I've already wrote their first meeting here in Merlin's RP Sample, I'd like to start with the first time Merlin tries to befriend/woo her. I'd like to have some scenes where Nivian's friends either approve or disapprove of Merlin, or show them coming around to him, and also scenes where the other suitors are annoyed with Merlin since Niv would "never choose such a scrawny runt of a dog."
Active Characters: Merlin, Nivian, Rim (if Taxx wants to throw him in)
Inactive Characters: Any other characters in the background could be played separately, I suppose, such as Nivian's brother, Lucius, but for the most part I figure we could just control them for sake of the plots, including any made up characters, ex. Nivian's friends who maybe do or do not approve of Merlin as a suitable potential mate or any males who also are competing for Niv's affections.

While the caverns were warm, they echoed noises and vibrations very loudly when the majority of the Wise Wolves began to stir in the morning. It was a good thing Merlin was an early riser. Not only was he out of the way when the other healers began to awaken, but he didn't have to deal with all the noise they made as they shuffled around. It had become a routine for the wise wolf, rise with the sun and work on his garden on the plateau until the sun had warmed his pelt and the weeds or ice were cleared and the plants watered. With the cold winter wind slowly becoming warmer the ice was no longer bothering they few plants he had growing. Not much could survive the harsh winter, but it was good to switch out the crops each season, because it helped the soil. He'd read that somewhere once. He missed reading. He would sometimes picture words and pages of books in his head so he didn't get rusty.
He was grateful for the melting snow as he worked. Not that he didn't enjoy the winter. He quite liked the stillness and the silence that came with it, and he enjoyed snow, but after his injury the cold made his crippled foreleg stiff and sore and it was a pain to try to get around while in pain. He worked until the sun had completely melted the ice and warmed his pelt. The aching seeped from his leg under the warm rays and he sighed with relief. The pain made it even harder for him to do simple tasks, like going to the river for a drink of to collect water in moss to water the plants. Sometimes he just drank from the puddles of melted snow because of this and then the younger and immature Wise Wolves and Star Gazers would mock him. Barbarians. Just because some of them were healers didn't mean they were mature, or even enlightened. He scoffed at some of the wise pups they had allowed to become healers lately. Some of them had only passed their training because they were from the old families or had connections to the Wise Elders.
With the gardening done and his crops and herbs safe, he gave a sigh and walked down the trail and back into the caverns towards the dining hollow, where the food was stored.
