Asa sat in the entrance of their den, glancing down at her and Mordred's children. They were not so quite sedate- not that she expected them to be. A tender smile appeared on her face as she watched them. She'd planned a walk for them, and she was waiting for Mordred to come to fetch them. She was as excited as her pups, though she didn't show it as obviously as they did. Soon enough they'd be off, and then she'd really have her paws full with trying to keep them all in sight as they trekked down the path. Not long now! A figure appeared in the entrance to the Spirit Caverns and Asa rose, lifting her tail in greeting as she padded to meet her mate, with her pups gamboling around her legs.

Stretching out, Mordred shook his fur as he yawned. It was just before midday, and he'd gotten hardly any sleep last night. The whole pack had been out after a pair of wise pups had come running home telling tales of a mad bear that had been roaming around. However, upon inspection, such a bear was not found. Which was great, as Mordred did not want to have to call this outing off.
Right after the morning hunt had ended, he'd hurried home to fetch his mate and pups; Asa had been cooped up for much too long with the little ones, and Mordred thought it would be nice for them all to get out for some fresh air. The pups had already been out one by one with him, but not yet with all of them together. Approaching his mate, he laughed as he saw his only son, Gawaine, weaving between his mothers' feet.
"Gawaine!" He greeted enthusiastically, nuzzling his son affectionately. "Ready to get going?" Looking up he watched as his daughters' came closer, Nimueh, Morgana and Morgause.

Morgana bounded forward, so happy to be taking a walk as a family. She loved her alone time with her dad but now he would be able to go out and play on the paths with her sister and brother. She slipped between Mordred's paws and yipped happily, looking up at her parents, "Yesss," she whined loudly, "Come on! Let's goooo!" She didn't wait for them, running from the cave and out towards the cavern's entrance. She twisted, shaking her puppy fur pelt and wagging her tail wildly.
"Hurry up!" She called over her shoulder to her family impatiently. It was so nice outside and her aunts and uncles had told her about the change in the seasons. It was so weird to see the once green leaves becoming gold and red, but that's what they were doing! She couldn't wait to see the snow! It was supposed to be white and cold. She wondered what cold would feel like! She liked summer and was sad to see it go but was so excited to see fall and winter and spring she knew she could wait.

Watching her sister dash by, Morgause took up the call and yipped as well, her tail going miles per hour as the excitement got to her. Dashing about she skidded to a stop, bumping hard into her brother Gawaine, and causing Nimueh, who had only been a few steps behind, to slam into her.
Without even a second of slowing down due to this crash, Morgause jumped back off and shook herself, ignoring Nimueh and Gawaine's protests, and hopped over to her father expectantly. "Are we going to the water fall? Oh please can we go to the water fall?" Nothing was better than the stories of the haunted falls; and she loved to try and catch the ghost the stories spoke of.

Asa smiled tenderly at her children as they raced back and forth, spouting questions and obviously excited for the outing. She spotted Morgana racing ahead and called to her daughter. "Slow down! We will all stay together, understand?" She quickened her pace and swept down on Morgana with a pretend growl, sweeping a paw toward her to pull her closer and bent her head to nuzzle the girl between her ears. "Come on then! The day's wasting away and we don't want to hang around here all day, do we?" She smiled down at Morgause and nodded. "Of course! We'll go wherever you pups want to go." She smiled at Mordred and then reached down and nudged little Nimueh along.

While slower than her more excitable siblings, Nimueh still quickly made her way over to her father. Oh yes, thought the anxiety of leaving the camp was eating at her, it didn't stop her tail from wagging just a little bit as she got the chance to hang out with her father, along with the rest of her family at the same time. Giggling a little as their mother playfully growled at Morgana, Nimueh silently weaved her way under her father's paws, happily pressing herself against his legs.
As Morgause begged to see the waterfall, Nimueh felt her anxiety peak. Of course she'd heard the stories; Morgause didn't neglect to tell them, and Mordred enjoyed to spook his children with ghost stories, something her siblings loved. It was the only thing she didn't like about her father, and why she preferred her grandfather in terms of storytelling. Looking up at her father in fear, Nimueh tried to express just how much she didn't want to go. She didn't want to fall into the river...

All of his family up and ready to go, Mordred laughed seeing his children so excited. He had to focus on balance for a moment as Morgana suddenly weaved around his paws. It really was a nice day for this; the seasons slowly changing, leave all around them changing color. The heat was gone, but there was no cold to sneak through there pelts. It would be a nice trip.
Watching his mate playfully scold their daughter, Mordred rolled his eyes. "Well, she has the right idea!" Leaning down and nuzzled Nimueh, who's presence between his paws was much more manageable. He knew she didn't like to leave camp, but Mordred was hoping that Nimueh would be alright if she were with both parents and her siblings; she needed to learn to be comfortable away from home, if she were ever to become a wise wolf.

Despite her mother's scolding, Morgana kept running a head of the group, her tail wagging furiously, every now and again darting back to them to nip at Gawaine or tease her sisters with her wagging tail, but then she'd run a head again. A walk! She had a sort of skip to her trot and she wondered where they were going.
Towards the waterfall, from the looks of it. And they'd get to see it from high up! For some reason it's be more exciting than seeing it from the ground. She loved climbing the mountains and being high off the ground. She felt... free up there, if that made any sense. She understood why the Wise Wolves stayed in their home. She felt so light and happy here, she couldn't wait to become a Wise Pup and live in the Barren Hollow and...
As the sound of the falls grew louder she tilter her head and barked loudly, "We're here!!!"

It was all so exciting, and Morgause was quickly swept up in it all, hurrying along to be with her sister. Gawaine was further back, walking along with his mother, content to remain further back. Nimueh was hiding, walking beneath her father. Morgause paid little attention to them, focusing on where she was going. The waterfall mesmerized her, sometimes she dreamed about it. Of a she-wolf, screaming as she fell into the river below. Faces from above that she could never quite make out, mixtures of terror, despair and happiness. Morgause had only seen it in person once so far, but she could see it so clearly in her head.
The louder the water, the more excited she became. "Mama, Papa, I want to see her again!" After the stories of the she-wolf that her Papa had told them, Morgause never quite realized that her dreams were more than just a retelling of the stories, a look into the past. But she'd seen her, the falling she-wolf. Could they communicate now? Oh please yes, Morgause wanted to speak to her so badly.
Morgause broke into a run, well, a run faster than the one she and Morgana had adopted, hurrying to the Waterfall and going straight to the edge, paying no mind to the danger of winds that could push her over at any moment. She needed to be close. Morgause leaned forward, teetering dangerously but not caring as she tried to strain her ears and eyes, for some sign of the she-wolf....

Every step was just serving to increase her anxiety. Nimueh, a normally pleasant girl with a friendly disposition, always changed dramatically when leaving home and entering the mist of the outer forest. She became an anxious mess who just wanted to go back home and stay there. As such, she was careful to walk beneath her father the whole, eyes alert and ears perked. Every sound felt magnified and she was on edge. Papa occasionally would lean down and give her a lick, calming her for a few moments before she felt nervous again. It was better with Papa and Mama here, but it was still difficult.
As the roaring of the waterfall hit her ears, she shivered. Unlike her siblings, the stories scared her. Surely she would end up falling like the wolf in the stories, doomed. Nimueh could just imagine herself... falling... no one able to help...
Then, Morgana and Morgause exclaimed as they neared their destination. Suddenly Morgause was running gleefully, without any thought. The pup went to the very edge, and Nimueh's eyes widened. If the wind decided to pick up, just a little.... Well, Morgause was so small.... She wouldn't be able to do anything about it.
Gawaine's eyes also widened at his sister's foolish bravery, and from above him she heard her father give a sharp shout to Morgause.

Morgana hung back from the edge, very aware of the sharp cold wind, bristling her fur. She gulped, wanting to reach out and drag her sister back from the edge. Her father's commanding bark at Morgause calmed her somewhat. Her mother and father wouldn't let anything happen to them. That's what mom's and dad's did. Kept you safe, but that didn't mean Morgana wasn't protective of her sister. She took a hestiant step forward, then another and clasped her teeth around Morgause's tail, giving her a sharp tug and pulling her back. What had she'd said? Something weird that didn't make a lot of sense, but that was normal for Morgause. Morgana liked when she talked like that. Sometimes she'd see glimpses of what her sister was talking about and she wondered how her sister always seemed to see it so clearly.
But right now, Morgana didn't care that there was a wolf in the water, her sis wasn't dead and she was going to stay that way, even if it meant Morgana had to follow her everywhere. Part of her was annoyed that Morgause couldn't be just a bit more normal, but then quickly discarded the thought. She loved her sister the way she was, and if she was't like this, she wouldn't be Morgause and then who would see be? Morgana blinked when she heard a shout echo through her ears, startling her so badly she grasped her foreleg around her sister's chest and tugged on her.
"Come on, or we won't be able to see inside the cave behind the waterfall!"

Asa gently licked Nimueh on one floppy ear. She could tell that her littlest daughter was afraid. "Don't worry, love. Father and I won't let you fall in. You're safe with us." Straightening up, she brushed against Mordred as she padded on, flicking her tail to beckon her children along. Morgana, predictably, ignored her. Asa rolled her eyes and quickened her pace as the sound of the waterfall grew louder. "Stay away from the edge!" she ordered, no hint of playfulness in her tone now. The horrible image of her daughter slipping and falling into the unforgivable torrent to disappear under the surface forever clutched at her mind.
Morgause was right on her sister's tail and she did exactly what Asa feared. The she-wolf lunged forward, fear clouding her eyes. But Morgause had already reached out and was pulling her sister back. Asa breathed a bit easier, but she still gave the girl a disapproving look. Really, she ought to know better. And she ought to listen. The wolf sighed. "Slow down," she advised. "The cave isn't going anywhere. Follow me, and for the Gods' sakes, be careful!" The path was wet, and it would be too easy for little paws- or big paws- to slip, resulting in a tragedy Asa very much wanted to avoid.

No! No! Morgause turned to glare at Morgana with a passion that was not her own, she had to get to the ledge and save the she-wolf before she fell. She was going to die! Die at the hands of Morgana! Love kill love, chaos erupting. Struggling to get out of her sister's grasp, Morgause completely ignored her parents. As far as she was concerned, they didn't exist at the moment.
"She's not in the cave anymore! The pushed her out, she's going to fall, I have to see her!" Why couldn't they understand? Did they not feel the panic that gripped Morgause's heart? Looking down toward the cave, she shivered. Not in the caves, she'd be trapped in the caves....

Mordred had to be careful where he stepped. Though Nimueh was normally good about it, that didn't change the fact that it was slightly difficult to have a pup walking between your legs. He had to be careful where he stepped so he didn't trip and call on the pup. Her slowness was helpful in the respect.
However, as Morgause and Morgana hurried along happily, Mordred did wish Nimueh would hurry up a little. Every so often the wolf would lean down and give his daughter a comforting lick, calming her for a few moments before she got anxious again. Looking down at how spooked she seemed, Mordred inwardly sighed and looked worriedly at his mate. What were they going to do about their little girl being scared to go absolutely anywhere?
He didn't think about it long. Instead, his mind became preoccupied as they neared the falls, where Morgana and Morgause called for joy and ran up to inspect the falls. Mordred thought nothing of it, but then he heard Morgana's odd comments and he narrowed his eyes. Morgause ran straight up to the edge, and Mordred shouted out for her to get back.
She didn't listen, and he felt Nimueh stiffen up. Mordred tried to move, but he couldn't just break into a run with Nimueh beneath him. Thankfully, as he tried to move forward, Morgana had sense and pulled her sister back from the edge. Still a bit quickly, Mordred went straight up to Morgause, and reproached, "If you ever get that close to the edge again, I'm not bringing you back here Morgause."
Looking up, Mordred turned toward his mate who tried to rally them up to go on their way. Immediatley, Morgause was protesting, which was odd in itself because Mordred had been certain Morgause would be nothing but excited with the notion of going into the caves. Looking back at her, he asked sternly, "Morgause, who on earth are you blabbering about?"

Morgana got a weird chill as her sister continued on, but she was too excited and brushed it off, especially excited as her family finally caught up. They'd help her keep an eye on Morgause, but then she thought she saw it too, someone falling. She paused and looked over the edge. Was it the ghost!? She wagged her tail excitedly, yay! She hadn't even gone in the cave and she'd seen the ghost! No wonder Morgause was excited!
She wagged her tail and scurried ahead of the group once more, looking back over her shoulder once or twice, ready to run and pull her other half along if she tried to follow the ghost again. "Look, look, Morgause! We might see her again in the cave!"
