Wood's ears twitched to the sounds outside of the barn, sitting there in his cage. He heard talk of a new dog here, two actually. One was a tiny little thing and the other was rather strange in color. Well didn't matter. He had yet to see them but he did hear them talking, they were on the other side of the barn though so he couldn't see them that way. Making himself sit on his hind legs, he sniffed about for a moment, due to catching the scent of someone else being in the barn at the moment. Perked ears remained that way until the being showed itself.

Peg stared at the little creature, eyes wide as memories flooded her vision. Jenna had said no rabbits. She wasn't allowed to touch the rabbits or bunnies or bite them, but it was so hard. Since she was a pup she'd been trained to hunt them. Think cat. They were like stubby little kitties. Don't hunt the rabbits, no rabbits, or the Coulson's wont feed you, anymore.
After swallowing heavily, still afraid she might do something stupid, she wondered why that rabbit was... it was looking around? Should she talk to it? Did it know the common tongue? Maybe if she got to know it, she wouldn't think of it as food? Right? Right.
"Hello bunny," She greeted in the common tongue, her mouth still salivating. She was just hungry. She'd eat some of the dog kibble the farmer had left for her in a minute. "Can you understand me?"

"I can, I've lived here long enough." Wood answered as he sat there, his long ears twitching.
Stranger she was to his eyes, but he did remember some of the Coulson dogs talking about her. A friend to them was what he had gathered from their talking about her. He didn't bother with saying he was a rabbit and not a bunny, it wouldn't do any good and it would just be a waste of his time along with hers. So, he'd put up with the word.
"I've heard about you, the dogs around here say you're a friend of theirs eh?" Wood asked as he sat there.

Peg started. She'd never have expected a rabbit to talk so... normal. At his words, she nodded her head sheepishly. Yeah, no eating the rabbit, no rabbits for supper. "Oh, yes. I met Jenna and she introduced me to her family and they've been letting me stay here for the winter." He coat twitched as she thought about how thin it was. She wished it were thicker, like Jenna's. She didn't have a problem with the cold, but even outside for less than an hour and Peg was shuddering like a car.
"So, do you have to stay in the cage all the time?" The greyhound asked the little creature.

"Well, you're one of them that they've been mentioning about here." Wood answered as he sat there, raising a paw and rubbing the top of his head with it. "Well, this barn should keep you warm enough for the winter, there are no doubt some blankets laying about that you can use if you get cold still."
Was he always in the cage? For the most part yes. When it came to having him home he was in one, sometimes they boxed off a small space outside for him to run around in so he could get chased by the dogs. But it was winter now.
"Most of the time, don't have a choice in the matter." Wood answered.

Peg tilted her head. She understood. She'd lived in a cage for much of her life, when she was younger. She didn't like it, not at all. But then again, he had a lot more room in his cage than she had in hers and it was warm and dry, and he had plenty of food and water. Maybe it wasn't so bad. Hers had had no padding, just a plastic, cold crate with barely enough food and water and little room to even turn around. And he had a little spot to go to the bathroom.
Yes, his cage wasn't anything like hers. She never wanted to be in a cage again. "Do you like your cage? Or would you rather be free?" She asked.

"I don't like it. Being outside of it is much better than being in it." Wood answered. "There's no way to get out of it without the farmer's key though."
Pointing to the pad lock on the side. The cage didn't always have the fancy lock, that was placed there when he managed to tip the cage over and it busted open. Allowing him out and freedom for a few moments. However, it had upset the farmer greatly and once he caught Wood, it was into a different cage that wasn't metal and much harder to move about. Just until he got a new one like this and a fancy lock.

Peg looked back at the lock on the cage and shuddered, thinking once more about her own time locked away in a cage. But there were other rabbits besides this one and they didn't seem too unhappy with their life. At least it was warm in the barn, unlike the kennel she'd been locked up in, with bedding and food and water.
She shook her head in shame, thinking about her former life, "Does he let you out often?" She asked. Jenna had told her some of the rabbits got let loose in the barn or in the rabbit run made of chicken wire out on the side, where they could enjoy the outside without escaping. She hadn't seen this herself as it was winter, but it was probably much more enjoyable than the cage.
