we were born for this
Harepaw
It had been moons since she'd had an apprentice, since before the kits. Owlstar must have known she'd needed the distraction when he'd called her to be Harepaw's mentor, and she'd welcomed it with open paws. When she'd moved back into the warrior den she through herself into work, with patrols and hunting, spending time with her sons and her daughter. Especially her daughter. Foxfrost was a lost thing and sometimes the older she cat wondered how she'd ended up with her for a daughter. Not that she didn't love her, but she wished she was more like her brothers or Robincrest herself. She sat at the entrance of the camp and waited for the young cat to meet her. It was early still and Robincrest reminded herself to be patient and not so harsh. She always pushed her apprentices hard, maybe too hard, but this was just barely a kit out of the nursery, she'd been watching them herself when she'd been in the nursery a few moons before. Harepaw and all her siblings were an excitable bunch but they had enthusiasm. They'd make good warriors one day.
She'd already eaten and she watched the camp come to life as the sun rose higher. The sunrise patrol would likely be back soon, and they'd already taken time to tour the territory the day before, so as a first official training day. The red she cat took a deep breath and stood up straighter. Hopefully her kits over in Thunderclan were healthy and happy and in a moon or so they'd begin training. Maybe in a few moons she'd see them at a Gathering. Maybe get the chance to tell Dawntreader they were their kits. She lets out a breath she didn't realize she was holding. She was getting a head of herself.
