Looking In The Mirror
Eye Color: Amber
Pelt: Solid black except for the white tip of his tail and a white sock on his right foreleg. Tan rims surround his eyes and the fur inside his ears is tan too.
Body Type: At first glance Rim appears to be rather unimpressive, thin and lanky. But little could be further from the truth. Rim is all muscle, hard lines and strength. His many moons of training and several fights have given him a confident air- there are not many wolves he couldn’t beat and he knows it.
Identifying Features: The top of his left ear has been torn off
Appearance: Rim is a solid, jet black. First and foremost, that is what others will notice- that and the white sock and white tip of his tail. Next, perhaps, they will face him and notice the rims around both eyes- the rims that gave him his name. Tan in color, they encircle both eyes, a stark contrast to the black of his fur and the amber of his orbs. Also the fur inside both ears is tan. The next thing you may notice is that his left ear- well, half of it is gone. Other than the few points on his body, he’s a dark black, and were it not for the white and tan, he might be able to sneak up on others on nights when the moon is new.
Rim’s sturdy- not bulging with muscle but not skinny and lean either. His stocky body rests on four slightly shorter than average legs. His bulk makes him a less than stellar runner, but it makes him good for the catch and for fighting. A short, thick neck and a thin tapered muzzle complete his frame. Mismatched ears sit on his head- the left half the size of the right. The damage done to the ear has caused him to go a bit deaf lately, but his right is as good as ever.

Under the Microscope
Likes: His mate, his pups, his pack, teaching pups, serving his pack
Dislikes: Rogues, those who don’t respect him, those who think they don’t have to listen, bears, stuck-up wolves
Strengths: Fighting, leading, teaching, head-strong, sturdy, still strong despite his age
Weaknesses: A little rash, touchy, doesn’t like to be made fun of, doesn’t trust easy, a bit deaf in his left ear, his family
Personality: Rim’s a fighter above all. A bit lacking in the sense of fun, he’s not the brightest wolf. He knows quite a few ways to overpower an enemy, but poke fun at him or say something meant sarcastically, and he won’t get it. He can be touchy, and he really doesn’t like anyone mentioning his torn left ear. He growl at you if you dare, and should you continue you might find yourself eating dirt. He’s a born leader and expects those who serve him to obey his every order. To young pups, he’s more lenient, but then too he has little patience for those who make the same mistake multiple times.
When he’s around his mate and pups, though, he reveals a completely new side. Fiercely loyal and deeply loving, he adores Aria and will allow his younger pups to crawl over him and will answer any question, no matter how many times they ask. His family is his greatest weakness. He’ll do anything for them... In everything he does, he throws himself in wholeheartedly, never doing anything without a great deal of enthusiasm. He’s in his element in a fight. Rarely getting angry, he has enough experience to defeat most opponents. In battle he knows how to keep his head and make split-second calculations and act on them. He doesn’t trust easily, and new wolves make him nervous- he’ll watch them until he’s sure until they are trustworthy- then he’ll treat them like any other member of the Wise Wolves.

Background Check:
History:
Born to Leshia and Salix 96 moons ago- the only surviving pup in the litter. Became a Squire to the Bolverk at eight moons and excelled. Grew strong and well versed in fighting. Early in his life he was visited by the Wise Wolves and offered a place among their pack. He turned down the offer- he was happy with how he was progressing and sensed that if he stayed he could do great things for the Pack. And he would have proudly served his pack as a fighter, but fate had another idea for him. When a bear broke into the camp, Rim being just 12 moons of age, he aided his mentor in driving it off. A careless move on his part resulted in one ear being torn off and a leg dislocating as he fled from the furious creature. He was lucky not to be hurt worse, and it was a lesson firmly ingrained- the pain of his torn ear, his aching leg, and the sound scolding from the Bolverk for his foolishness.
A Wise Wolf was sent for, to heal his ear and leg. He soundly insulted the dog who came to help, speaking down to him coldly. The dog healed him as he had come to do, but as Rim left the den he overheard Trident and the dog talking and the words peaked his interest. He tried to ignore them as he continued his training, stubbornly hanging on as he finished his training and then became a Soldier. But the conversation nagged at him, refusing to shift and fade as time passed until he gave up and decided, after all, to go the Wise Wolves. They told him they would think about their decision over the night and showed him a den he could rest in until morning. An unexpected visit from a bear interrupted the night. It intruded the cave, possibly seeking a pup to steal; Rim intercepted the beast, diving to attack and drive it away. The battle was hard, but while Rim was smaller, he was more agile and little by little he forced the bear to retreat. Eventually the bear tripped over the ledge; one wide paw hooked into Rim’s pelt and nearly pulled him over as well.
He managed to hang on long enough for the rest of the Wise Wolves to pull him back to solid ground. The Wise Elders came to stand before him and before the entire pack gave him the admission he had been looking for. But being accepted meant starting a whole new round of training. He learned a new set of rules and a new lifestyle, but held on to his talents and strove to measure up to the Wise Yarrow, a temperamental wolf but a mentor very much like the Balverk had been.
As he grew, Rim found he had caught the eye of one of the young females of the pack. She began to coax him along on walks together, away from the pack; while he resisted at first, after the first few times he found her to be good company and soon it was he pursuing her. While he did not let this new-found friendship interfere with his lessons, the two did grow closer as time passed. When they finally mated, it was a surprise to nobody. Just over two moons later, five pups were born. However, only three pups survived their first moon. Each pup proved to be very different- the only boy, hyper as he was, ended up a Star Gazer, while the two girls excelled but in different aspects. The smaller girl took after her father and learned the skills necessary to defend the pack, while the other became a Healer like her mother. They are fifteen moons old now. Two moons ago, Rim’s mate birthed another litter, this one consisting of just two pups, both males. One already proves to have inherited his father’s bulk. The other, lighter and trimmer, boasts one day to be the best Scout the Wise Wolves have ever seen.
Rim is getting old now, but he is not stiff yet and he knows he’s not dying anytime soon. He may very well have another litter, if his mate desires it. All the same, he is considering looking for a Squire to train to take over his position when he is gone.
